Parent Support Groups

The CSLD therapists and parents of children with language learning disorders, autism, hyperlexia or social language difficulties join to find a helpful way to network with other families and share information. The support group is a way for families to gather with people who really understand what they are experiencing and gain thought provoking information while brainstorming with experts on new ideas and various topics.

Scheduled CSLD Parent Support Group Meetings in 2009-10

CSLD will be hosting "Parent Support Group" meetings in Elmhurst. These meetings are FREE and open to the public. Reservations are necessary as seating is limited.

 

Topic:         Estate Planning for Families with Special Needs

Learn about special estate planning designed to help families plan for the life-long care of their child or adult with special needs.  Topics will include special needs trusts, choosing a guardian, Powers of Attorney, Medicaid and long term care insurance.

 

Topic:         Speech and Language Strategies and Activities At Home

This meeting will provide parents and caretakers an opportunity to learn about strategies that can be used at home to help increase expressive and receptive language skills.  Time will be provided for questions.
