CSLD Summer Programs 2009

Power Play

The Power Play summer program is designed to give children with play and social interaction difficulties an opportunity to learn the skills needed for better participation in a classroom or camp environment.  The program set-up resembles a class or camp structure.  CSLD speech therapists are developing motivating activities around fun themes for children to work on group readiness skills including: transitioning between activities, group participation when following a scheduled activity, developing play skills and appropriate ways to interact with peers.  The program is designed so that participants may register for one-week sessions at a time to accommodate vacations and other scheduling issues.  Themes will change weekly.  Slots are available for siblings and friends.  Please contact us for more information about the new sibling/friend addition to our Power Play program.

Power Play I (ages 4-5)

[2 sessions/week for 1-1/2hrs./session]

Schedule:  Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 23 through August 13

Time:  9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Class Size:  min. 3; max. 6

Cost:  $195.00 per week

 

Power Play II (ages 6-7)

[2 sessions/week for 1-1/2 hrs./session]

Schedule:  Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 23 through August 13

Time:  1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Class Size:  min. 3; max. 6

Cost:  $195.00 per week

Registration Deadline:  The Wednesday prior to the beginning of each session.

 

Out on the Town

 

This program is designed to allow children, ages 9 - 12, opportunities to learn about places of interest in Elmhurst and the skills necessary to interact in that environment.  This program runs twice a week -- one day in the therapy room and one day in the place of interest.  Possible locations for learning include the Elmhurst Public Library, Elmhurst Historical Society and Nancy's Pizza.

 

Schedule:  June 24 - August 14

Time:  Wednesdays from 1:15pm - 2pm and Fridays from 10am - 11am

Class Size:  3 min., 6 max.

Cost:  $130.00 per week (everything included except for transportation)

 

To help us schedule off-site activities families must register for all of the sessions they want to attend by the registration deadline.  Payment for these sessions must be made by the Wednesday prior to the beginning of each week. Registration Deadline:  June 17

 

Social Language Groups (all ages) and Teen Groups

 

These groups are designed to allow children of all ages to learn and practice peer interaction skills.  A certified/licensed speech-language pathologist facilitates the groups by scripting language and modeling behaviors through games, conversations and activities.  Activities address specific social language skills and understanding and using non-verbal communication effectively.

General Information

 

The clinical staff reserves the right to determine if a program is appropriate for your child.  For clients new to CSLD, enrollment in the summer programs may require a consultation session at an additional fee.  We ask that you provide recent evaluation reports and/or IEP goals to assist with placement of your child in the appropriate program.

Location

All Summer Programs will be held at the Elmhurst location at 606 Michigan.

Payment

Pay at the time of service by check or Visa/MC.  A billing statement will be provided for you to submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. 

Insurance

Pay at the time of service by check or Visa/MC. As a courtesy, CSLD will bill your insurance carrier.  We will need a completed insurance form and a copy of your insurance card.  You may request payment from your carrier to be made directly to you.  In the event the payment comes to CSLD, an immediate refund will be made.
